Website Design Process for Breeders & Kennels


Understanding how to go about getting a website can be very confusing. We try very hard to make it simple for you by taking all of the work out of it for you. We are a full service custom website designer. In very plain english here is the Short Form of what we do.
    During the Design Process we will:

To offer further explaination we will take each item step by step to help you understand each step better.

Contact Us
Contact us by email or by completeing our online design quote form. If you have any questions from the quote - be sure to contact us seperately as well.

The design quote form is fairly self explanatory requesting your contact information, what type of design services you are looking for, the size of your business or kennel, information about deadlines and how you found us. We really appreciate knowing how you found us as it helps us to know who to Thank and what methods of advertising are working well for us.

Discussion, pricing and contracts
After reviewing your completed design quote form, we will contact you within 24 hours generally to discuss your needs and your ideas for your web site or other graphical needs. We will give you a rough idea of price at that time as our pricing schedule is pretty set in stone and yet flexible depending on the extent of difficulty of your site. After an email / verbal response of approval we will then put together a full contract for you to review, sign and return. A signed contract protects both parties involved. A contract can be provided to you early in the process if you request it.

We require a 50% deposit in order to begin creating your web site. Please note that once a contract is signed, any extra work or "add-ons" are considered additional and will be billed accordingly at the time of service per contract specifications.

You should begin gathering your content early in this process as it is the crucial step to developing your website to your liking. Content can be sent to us at anytime, however, work will not begin until the contract and deposit are received.

Domain Name & Hosting Space

Paw Print Creations is happy to assist you in this step by providing quick and easy links to register your domain name and hosting services through OnTarget Hosting, our affiliate company, through our client area.

Compensation for services provided:
A 50% non-refundable (per provided contract) deposit is required with the signing of the contract to begin work. Final payment is to be paid in full within 90 days of the receipt of the deposit, regardless of work completion, or upon completion of the work, whichever comes first. We accept check, money order or credit card payment via Pay Pal. All payments must be made in U.S. funds payable to Laura Jarbeau. Our mailing address is provided to you in the client area.

Hosting/Domain Name registration: Full payment due at time of registration. We accept check, money order or credit card payment via Pay Pal. All payments must be made in U.S. funds payable to Laura Jarbeau.

We are not obligated to commence work on your web site until the 50% deposit has been received. Public access to the web site will be granted after final payment is made. An annual hosting/domain name registration bill will be sent out 10 days before the date of first publication.

Getting Your Information to Us
There are two ways you can do this. Either email your information, or if you prefer you may mail your content to us on CD. Our mailing address is provided to you in the client area. If mailing we recommend you use either Priority Mail, FedX or UPS. Regular mail cannot be tracked if something should happen and some photos are irreplaceable! All content is to be type written in digital format either on disk or in email. Word documents are fine as well. You are responsible for all spelling and grammatical errors. We will reveiw all content and look for these issues, but are not to be held responsible for any errors.

Designing Your Site
At this stage of the design process we will have a good idea of what you are looking for and have some of your materials to get started in creating a draft layout of your site. As your site takes shape you will be able to view your web site via a secure online web address which is accessed through your Client Area. We work very closely with you throughout the design process and your input, suggestions and ideas are always welcomed. Once the draft layout has been completed we will ask for your feedback which is essential in the design process. We will make the changes you request to complete a final layout/design that will be used for your site. After the draft layout is adjusted to your specifications, you will agree to it, stating it is the layout/design you want. Once you have agreed to the design/layout any major changes which involve changes will be billed an hourly rate. All works-in-progress are protected by copyright laws and are copyrighted to Paw Print Creations and are not to be downloaded in anyway.

How long will it take?
This depends on the size and complexity of the site. It also depends on the length of time it takes to decide on a design and layout. Once this is decided, and all content and your initial 50% deposit has been submitted to Paw Print Creations, generally it takes up to four (4) weeks to get your web site online. Depending on the complexity, your site can take anywhere from 3 days to complete to the full four weeks.  Generally, a simple three page site can be up and running in 8-10 days. We do offer a one page holding page for your domain name to be up and running with crucial information such as kennel/business name and contact information. A small litter announcement may be added for a nominal fee.

We do not take on more commitments than we can handle.
Time priority is, however, given to existing customers with website maintenance issues. Updates to websites are alloted a 72 hour window for completion. Completing these updates for other clients also offers a window of refreshing thought during the design process of a new website.

Launching
Once your website design is complete and your final okay has been received, the balance of the contract will be invoiced and becomes due. When the balance is received, we will upload the site to your host and your site will then be accessible to the world.

Promotion
It takes time and effort to promote your web site. Once your site is online we will submit it to the top search engines by hand. It commonly takes several weeks to several months to become listed in search engines. Please offer this time plenty of patience. We will do our part by submitting it to the search engines, but the delay in indexing is out of our hands. We will also assist you with some guidelines on other ways of promoting your site.

Maintenance
Keeping your site current is a sure way to keep people coming back to your site on a regular basis. The site that we have created for you, is completely owned by you. Making changes to your website can be done by anyone you choose, including yourself. Upon written request, we will make any changes to your website that you need at an hourly rate of $30.00 per hour. Should someone else make changes to your website that hinder your site unusable, restoring your site will be billed at an hourly rate of $30.00 per hour.
